We are the ones called to care for these strangers.

Healing Community Church, located in the Dongducheon Bosan area, held its first worship service on June 23, 2024, welcoming migrants from Africa, asylum seekers, and undocumented immigrants with the heart of God the Father for those who have come as sojourners to this land.

Without criticism or judgment of their circumstances, we embrace those who have come to settle or visit as sojourners, carrying the Lord’s command to care for them. We support them through their pain, sorrow, cultural shock from adapting to Korean culture, and the communication difficulties they face while adjusting to life in Korea.

As we gradually learn about and engage with the lives of these sojourners who have come to Korea for various reasons, we have realized that, for them, Korea is often a land of despair. Though they arrived with hope, we have discovered that neither the Korean government, nor Korean society, nor the Korean church is fully prepared to welcome them as refugees.

Therefore, the Healing Village exists to bring the hope given by the Lord to those who have come as sojourners. By walking alongside them and building a community of love and sharing, we believe that the loneliness, alienation, and oppression they feel in Korea will be eased through the good actions and influence of kindhearted neighbors, like the Good Samaritan. Through this process, holistic healing will take place, and they will gain a sense of identity, ultimately giving back by helping Korea’s marginalized communities.
